For this hike, you need to be sure-footed and have a head for heights on alpine hiking trails with a difficulty rating of T3+.

We start in Leysin at an altitude of around 1,260 m. We can expect an ascent of around 1,100 meters, which can optionally be shortened by taking the mountain railway. We follow a mostly easy alpine road to Alp Temeley before venturing into more alpine terrain.

The next destination is the Buvette d'Aï at 1,892 m, a rustic collection of old mountain huts below the Tour d'Aï. Now the challenging part of the ascent begins and we climb the seemingly inaccessible rock barrier that leads us to the long ridge of the Tour d'Aï. The views down into the valley are already impressive, and depending on the season, we are almost immersed in a sea of alpine flora lining the hiking trail.

The last 200 meters of elevation gain are the most impressive, leading along the east side of the Tour d'Aï, interrupted again and again by new highlights with views in all directions. After about three hours of climbing, we reach the summit of the Tour d'Aï and treat ourselves to a long break to soak up all the impressions of this summit.

We descend carefully and safely along the same route and soon reach the Buvette d'Aï again, where we can stock up on fresh drinks. From here, we soon reach our starting point in Leysin, where we come full circle.
