Friday: Arrival and relaxed warm-up run around Lenzerheide

We meet at 3 p.m. at the modern Revier Hotel in Lenzerheide. After getting to know each other, we start right away with a relaxed run on easy trails around Lenzerheide to get in the mood for the coming days. At a comfortable pace that allows us to chat, we will get to know each other and you will receive some initial tips on trail running.

After checking into our cozy rooms with large panoramic windows, we will end the evening in a relaxed atmosphere and have dinner either at the hotel or in one of the surrounding restaurants.

Saturday: Early Bird Run and technical training with cable car support

After a peaceful night, there is the option of taking part in an early morning run. We set off early from the hotel with our headlamps and, depending on how we feel, tackle around 400-600 meters of elevation gain at a relaxed pace, running straight into the rising sun. The cold morning wind blows around our noses and we look forward to the warming rays of the sun, but the unique atmosphere of a trail running tour in the early hours of the morning compensates us for leaving our warm beds so early.

Once we are back at the hotel, we have a late breakfast and discuss the rest of the day. The focus here is primarily on running technique: on hiking trails around Lenzerheide, some of which we reach with the help of the mountain railways, we learn the most important technical dos and don'ts of trail running:

  • Running and walking technique uphill
  • Use of trail running poles
  • Running technique for downhill running
  • Improve surefootedness on alpine trails
  • Route planning and orientation with modern aids such as GPS watches
  • Safety and rescue

In the afternoon, when we are back at the hotel, you can relax and learn about the role your smartphone can play in trail running during a short surprise session – and we don't mean navigation or making phone calls.

As on the previous evening, dinner can be taken at the hotel or in nearby restaurants – with other group members or individually, whichever you prefer.

Sunday: The day for summit climbers

After a hearty breakfast, we set off (probably with the help of the mountain railways) on our final run, which takes us along the panoramic ridges of the Graubünden mountains. With constant ups and downs and a pace adapted to the group, we quickly forget everyday life and get fully into the flow of alpine trail running. Today, we can apply all the technical training from the previous day and soon realize that the day has passed far too quickly and we are already back in the valley.

After clarifying the last few questions, it is unfortunately time to say goodbye and we look back on three eventful and impressive days in which trail running has lost much of its terror and gained enormous appeal.

Surrounded by the Stätzerhorn, Parpaner Rothorn, and Lenzer Horn mountains, Lenzerheide lies at an altitude of 1,473 m between Chur, Thusis, and Davos. Its high altitude and excellent mountain rail connections make the region a well-known and popular destination for active travelers, with mountain biking becoming particularly popular alongside winter sports. But where you can ride, you can also run, and this is where trail running comes into play. Thanks to its dense network of hiking trails, Lenzerheide offers countless opportunities for runs of all lengths and degrees of difficulty, up to an altitude of almost 3,000 meters.

The meeting point is at 3 p.m. on Friday directly at the Revier Hotel Lenzerheide. You can travel there by car or by public transport directly to the hotel (Lenzerheide/Lai Rothornbahnen stop).

The course ends on Sunday between 3 and 4 p.m. in Lenzerheide.

The Revier Hotel Lenzerheide is a modern hotel located directly on Lake Heidsee. All rooms are equipped with a shower and toilet and offer lake views through large panoramic windows.

A generous breakfast is included in the price.

Dinner can be booked as an optional half-board supplement or enjoyed at your own expense either in the hotel's restaurant or in one of the surrounding restaurants in Lenzerheide.
