Swiss Hiking Night 2025 on the Gemmi Pass

We meet at the Gemmi cable car valley station and set off into the night together. The trail leads us in a quiet rhythm through the alpine darkness, slowly ascending over serpentines and rocky paths towards the Gemmi Pass. The silence of the night is accompanied only by our footsteps and the light of our headlamps.

Together we reach the pass at an altitude of around 2,300 meters. There we treat ourselves to a short break, fortify ourselves with a late midnight snack and enjoy the cool, clear mountain air.

Before sunrise, we set off to circle Lake Dauben. As the first light colors the horizon, the landscape becomes visible bit by bit. The mountains are reflected in the water, the silence is slowly replaced by the sounds of the approaching day - a magical moment.

We reach the Gemmi Lodge shortly before 6 a.m., where a fantastic sunrise awaits us. The new day dawns, accompanied by a delicious and sumptuous breakfast buffet with a view.

From 08:00 you can take the first cable car back down to the valley or you can choose to descend individually on foot if you want to continue enjoying the day outdoors.

Leukerbad is the highest thermal spa in Europe and a perfect starting point for alpine adventures. Nestled in an imposing rock arena, the village offers not only relaxation but also spectacular mountain scenery.

The historic Gemmi Pass was an important link between Valais and the Bernese Oberland centuries ago. Today, a well-maintained hiking trail leads up to the top of the pass at 2,300 m above sea level and to a place that impresses with its vastness, tranquillity and charisma. Day or night: the Gemmi Pass is a real experience.

A rich and delicious breakfast buffet awaits you at the Gemmi Lodge from 06:30.

• Headlamp or flashlight with fresh batteries (plus spare)
• Hiking boots with a good tread (sneakers are not sufficient)
• Suitable hiking clothing with onion principle
• Warm clothing for the cool morning hours (we are outside until the morning)
• Spare T-shirt to change into
• Hiking poles (optional)
• Small first-aid kit / personal medication
• Snacks & drinks for on the way
• GA / Halbtax or cash for the mountain railway
• Filled out emergency form in your backpack (you will receive the form after registration)

Descent on the Gemmi cable car (approx. CHF 20 with half-fare travelcard)

• The tour will only take place in good weather conditions and will be finalized on Friday evening, July 11, 2025.
• Insurance is the responsibility of the participants (accident, health, liability insurance). We recommend REGA patronage and cancellation insurance.

After registration we will send you an invoice, which must be paid by 01.07.2025 at the latest. If you book at short notice (from 02.07. or later), payment is due immediately upon receipt of the invoice. In any case, the course fee must be received by us before 12.07.2025.

Cancellation free of charge until 01.07.2025.

From 02.07.2025 50% of the costs will be charged.

From 07.07.2025 100% of the costs will be charged.

No costs will be charged if beAnywhere cancels due to weather conditions. Costs already paid will be refunded.
